Every child that attends here is treated as an individual with their own unique needs, likes and dislikes. Each child is given time to explore, create, experiment, make choices and learn through play. Alongside free play we offer adult lead activities which are child initiated therefore ensuring their interest. Your child's Key Person will plan and carry out activities that are personalised to your child's need and interests.
The children are encouraged to explore books and print from an early age in order to develop pre- reading skills. We have cosy book corners that are perfect for sharing a story in a small group and also have large group story times which can become very animated!
Our staff are trained in an innovative storytelling and story acting method called the 'Helicopter Technique'. This has been thoroughly researched by the Open University, who found that it encourages early reading and writing skills alongside developing self confidence and self esteem.
Our practical activities, games, songs and stories give our children a solid basic understanding of mathematical concepts, such as counting, problem solving, shapes, space and measures. Children have a natural love of rhythm and music and our children have a very wide repertoire of songs and nursery rhymes. As well as being fun and creative these also improve our children's vocabulary, concentration, memory span and speech development.
